How Do You Beat Recession?

With the economic gloom engulfing the entire world and people the world over feeling the heat of recessionary pressures, it makes sense to find out ways to beat recessionary blues.

Some of the recognized and oft used measures to stave off recessionary pressure are:

1. Cut down the spending. Any spending shall be properly evaluated before committing on it. A penny spent shall have the capability of earning at least a dollar!

2. Reduce debts. During recessionary times, cost of financing any debt gets steeper and steeper, primarily because:

              a. There is a paucity of revenue sources
 http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
           b. Lender is forced to increase the rate of interest during bleak economic times to tide over his own difficulties.

Even if all the debt cannot be repaid, ensure that financing cost is minimum.

3. Opt for stringent cost restructuring. An expenditure that seems normal during bright days may become a burden on the wallet during bleak economic times. It is advisable to scout for better and cheaper alternatives giving the same king of result.

4. Invest wisely. This means, there shall be a mix of equity and debt funds in the portfolio to lend a healthy sign to the investment mix. A single penny available during recessionary times would seem like a huge relief and hence, it is always advisable to keep investing a portion of the revenue earned during the bright days so that rainy days do not seem too dark & cloudy.

5. Stick to the core. This can have different meaning for different people. If you are a businessman, it means stick to your core area of strength and do not venture into new line of business. Similarly, for individuals who are in employment, it means that they shall not change jobs during recessionary periods because from employer's perspective new recruits would be the first to lose jobs during bad times.

Out of the above 5 mentioned measures, a business has to take care of 4 measures on its own. Only in one measure can the business expect to receive helping hand from an external agency. And that is in cutting down cost!

As mentioned above, a business needs to be extra careful in spending even a penny during recessionary period. It therefore makes sense for a business to categorize its functions and start outsourcing those that add up its overhead and not worth spending its money on. It would be advisable rather to spend the money saved from outsourcing on expanding business in its core area, thereby improving the scope of earning revenue.

Tips for Keeping Your Business Thriving during Economic Recession

Recession Definition:

Recession describes the reduction of a country's gross domestic product (GDP) for at least two quarters. The usual dictionary definition is "a period of reduced economic activity", a business cycle contraction.

The United States-based National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)defines economic recession as: "a significant decline in [the] economic activity spread across the country, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP growth, real personal income, employment (non-farm payrolls), industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales."

So:

Now is not the time to panic and fall behind in customer satisfaction. Be sure to keep close contact with all of your clients-and give some extra attention to your biggest ones. It is important to show your clients that you will still be valuable to them, since cutting costs is on everyone's minds these days.

Cut Costs

Take the time to review your budget and see if there is any excessive spending going on. Are there any adjustments you can make to lower costs? If you use any suppliers, contact them to inquire about lower prices, or if you receive any services from other businesses you can contact them to see about lowering costs. This sort of thing is expected in a recession, so do not be afraid to cut costs any way you can.

Clean Up

Now is a great time to take care of any clutter in your business-both financial and physical. Organize your documents, take care of any delayed filings, and clean up the office. You may even find some old leads you forgot about that you could try to contact. Once this is done, it will be easier for you to step back and use some perspective to get a better idea of where you are and where you're going.

Use the Internet

The Internet is a tool, and quite a powerful one. During a recession, it can be an even better resource because there are plenty of marketing opportunities online that are free. If you are not as computer savvy as some or simply don't have the time, you could consider hiring an Internet marketing company to help.

Watch Payments

Pay particular attention to credit transactions and checks in times like these. We would all like to trust all of our clients to make payments on time, but the fact is they may not even know how low their own bank account balances are. To avoid losing money and time, be sure to keep good track of your clients and your cash to avoid the entire scenario.

Promote Your Best Areas

Do not even bother marketing or promoting your lowest selling area more than necessary. During a recession, vigorously promote your best-selling and most rewarding services. Then, once you have a client signed up, you can offer any extra services that you have if they're interested.

Various Prayers in Buddhism

An Introduction to Buddhism

To do no evil;

To cultivate good;

To purify one's mind:

This is the teaching of the Buddhas.

--The Dhammapada

Mahabodi Temple In Bodhgaya

Buddhist Hymns and Prayers

On Opening the Sutra

The Dharma incomparably profound and exquisite Is rarely met with, even in hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas; We are now permitted to see it, to listen to it, to accept and hold it; May we truly understand the meaning of the Tathagata’s words!

Confession

All the evil karma ever committed by me since of old,
On account of greed, anger, and folly, which have no beginning,
Born of my body, mouth, and thought --
I now make full open confession of it.

The Threefold Refuge

I take refuge in the Buddha;
I take refuge in the Dharma;
I take refuge in the Sangha.

I take refuge in the Buddha, the incomparably honoured one;
I take refuge in the Dharma, honourable for its purity;
I take refuge in the Sangha, honourable for its harmonious life.

I have finished taking refuge in the Buddha;
I have finished taking refuge in the Dharma;
I have finished taking refuge in the Sangha.

The Four Great Vows

However innumerable beings are, I vow to save them;
However inexhaustible the passions are, I vow to extinguish them;
However immeasurable the Dharmas are, I vow to master them;
However incomparable the Buddha-truth is, I vow to attain it.

The Teaching of the Seven Buddhas

Not to commit evils,
But to do all that is good,
And to keep one’s thought pure --
This is the teaching of all the Buddhas

The Gatha of Impermanence

All composite things are impermanent,
They are subject to birth and death;
Put an end to birth and death,
And there is blissful tranquility.

[The preceding quoted in D. T. Suzuki, Manual of Zen Buddhism. N.Y.: Grove, 1960.]

Connecting To Our Higher Consciousness With A Pendulum

We all have the ability to access our intuitive capacities by using a pendulum. Learning to use a pendulum is like learning any other skill. It requires time, determination, trust, balance and persistent practice. Given these, success can be expected. Every object, animate or inanimate, gives off energetic radiation, and our expanded senses can feel and measure these energies. The intuitive, or super- conscious mind is the recipient of this information when we access the bridge to it.

The pendulum is only a communication device between the conscious and the subconscious mind. The pendulum itself does not gives you answers. It is nothing more than an object to give you the means or language to make conscious the Intuition. Successful use of a pendulum is a matter of establishing a clear, precise and consistent language between the two parts of the mind. The subconscious mind takes all communications literally. It takes time for the subconscious to understand what is expected of it and respond accordingly. It is necessary to approach the pendulum with enthusiasm, optimism and the confidence that you are able to use it. It is an incredible skill that can allow you access to information, knowledge and wisdom beyond all limitations.

How the Pendulum Works

The pendulum can be thought of as an extension of the intuition, since it is used to gain access to information that exists at the subconscious level of the Inner Being. It could be said that it strengthens or amplifies the intuition because it converts the subtleties of the intuition into a more obvious form of physical motion. When you ask a question of the pendulum, it is your own intuition that answers it. The pendulum merely allows you to physically see what the intuition already knows. As an extension of the intuition, the pendulum can give you information from the same two sources as the intuition: from your own subconscious mind; and from your guidance, spirit, or guardian angel. Because of how it operates, the pendulum can only answer questions that are phrased so that the answer is either "yes" or "no".

Connecting to Your Higher Self

Limited views and opinions are stifling. They detach us from reality, decrease our awarenss and shut down our mind. We all have a limited view of some areas of our lives. Gaining a broader perspective is self awareness. Being able to open up your mind, allowing a free flow of thoughts and ideas can be liberating. Welcoming a new opinion or way of doing something can bring new meaning to your life. If you give up your closed thoughts and make way for a different opinion, you may be surprised at the outcome.

Striving to meet difficult goals has pushed us to stretch the horizons of what we think is possible. We share the ways in which obstacles and challenges have made us stronger, and given us confidence to continue setting goals and dreams in our adventures, our business, and in our day to day lives. This is conscious living.

You only want to work with your Higher Self. Any of your guides, spirits and angels can go through your Higher Self. Start by speaking to your spirits either aloud of in your head. Tuning in to any energy is the ability to quiet the mind, allowing your inner self, or intuition, to perceive truth. By practicing this art, we develop a sensitivity toward inner information and the ability to condition our mind to listen on a much more subtle level. This developing can give us the ability to sense energy and actually perceive on an even more subconscious plane.

Universal Symbols of Shape and Color

The following shapes and colors have a Universal meaning, yet in almost every religion, culture and part of the world, they have their own specific meaning to go along side these definitions. These shapes are Universally recognized and play a part of our subconscious mind in one way or another. The colors represent one general idealism; yet can represent something entirely different if used in a different context.

Circle (ball): An ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power. A romantic attachment or deep friendship and a sacred space. The circle symbolizes the sacred and spiritual including the "sacred" earth. See pendulums in ths category.

Diamond (faceted): Because of its perfect symmetry, the diamond vibrates toward harmony. This makes it an excellent shape for meditation gardens or those used for culinary purposes. As this shape also vibrates toward the solidity of Earth, it’s a good bet for magical gardens involving prosperity and abundance, and issues of the family, home, and hearth. See pendulums in ths category.

Heart: generally, hearts represent love, but may also indicate a romantic disposition. True love, happiness, financial gain, lasting love, and love for other.

Hexagon: is a polygon with six edges and six vertices. The word hexagon is derived from the Latin hexagnum, from Greek hexagnos, having six angles. This hexagonal star is faceted and carved from natural crystal. Use it for balancing Chakras, laying on problem areas, creating a crystal grid, to amplify the power of your other stones, power up your positive affirmations. Place this star in any room where you want to create a balanced, healthy environment. See pendulums in ths category.

Octagon: Eight denotes the intermediary region between earth and heaven or, microcosm, between body and spirit; and the octagon is a symbol of the "best" part of psychic substance that is the vehicle of spiritual light. The octagon expresses the nearness to heaven of the psychic elements in question, and by being almost circular in form it expresses their all but spiritual nature.

Oval: This voluptuous and feminine shape not only represents completeness, but is also a symbol of the infinite. It conjures up the idea of wisdom and the power of longevity and for all eternity. See pendulums in ths category.

Rectangle: The rectangle symbolizes the female form. Intelligence; Protector; Divine contemplation. The rectangle also symbolizes the equilibration of the fourfold forces.

Square: The square represents the physical world. Like the quartered circle, it points pagans to the four compass directions: north, east, south and west.

Star (merkaba): are drawn by ambitious people and may suggest a desire for self-promotion. Little stars indicate optimism, while asymmetrical stars suggest excess energy. A sign of hope, love, joy and prosperity, protection against fires, good fortune, hope, love, fertility, energy and harmony. The unique qualities of the star (merkaba) are the divine light vehicle used by ascended masters to connect with those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another. See pendulums in ths category.

Triangle (pyramid): Associated with the number three. Pointing upwards, it symbolizes fire, male power, good luck; Pointing down, it symbolizes water, female sexuality, goddess, religions, take care.

Combination Ball and Triangle: energy point with ball adds both the element of a point, which vibrates toward harmony and the Universal symbol of unity. This makes it an excellent shape for meditation gardens or those used for culinary purposes. As this shape also vibrates toward the solidity of Earth. The ball or circle is an ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power. See pendulums in ths category.

Pendulum Colors and Their Connections

Red - grounding emotions, passion, charisma, lust and also the creative spark.

Orange - sexual fire, abundance in career, projects and matters needing an added push.

Yellow - the color of power, health in body and mind, love of man and the sun, connection to the God form.

Green - growth, fertility, success in things and ideas that grow hope.

Blue - protection, peace, calmness and spirituality.

Indigo - richness of meditation, twilight, deep emotions, seriousness and contemplation.

Violet - the highest Universal power and those things that are sacred.

White - purity, power of the moon, allows energy to flow freely, faith.

Black - protection, also used to blend or bind elements together.

Multicolor - represents the rainbow colors most associated with the full rainbow spectrum and is most related to the Chakra centers and Aura field.

The Care and Use of Your Pendulum

1. If you are drawn to a particular pendulum, it has probably already choosen you.

2. Cleanse your pendulum by running it under luke warm water or do a smudging with sage.

3. You can charge your pendulum with energy by placing it on a crystal cluster, in a bowl with hematite or with quartz.

4. If you pendulum is made from crystal, look at the specific cleansing for that particular crystal. Some crystals do not like salt water, sun, extreme heat, extreme cold or water.

5. Keep your pendulum in a covered or in a bag to eliminate the dust accumulation.

6. Always ask your question with the proper intention. Keep your mind clear and positive. Do not ask questions that you cannot handle the answer to.

7. Pendulums have different swings. You should determine your yes and no swing, before you start your session.

8. Always stop the pendulum from swinging between questions.

Should a Coach Have Prior Experience of the Subject in Which They Are Coaching?

So, you want to become a coach?

One thing you may be thinking about is what area you specialise in. There is definitely a case for becoming a specialist coach – you are likely to be perceived as an expert and therefore people will come to you and consequently you should be able to command higher prices.

Of course when you are starting out and you are desperate for your first customers it is very tempting to say you will `coach anyone' but trust me (I'm a coach) this is taking a very short term view. Building up a reputation for being the area's leading relationship coach or the city's top public speaking coach will have you at the forefront of people's mind when they have a need for your services.

But, how experienced in a particular field do you need to be to coach in a particular area? Now there might seem to be an obvious answer to this question – after all doesn't experience count for everything?

But, let's start with a definition of coaching first and then you will see that this isn't so obvious. True coaching (sometimes termed as non-directive coaching) occurs when an individual is allowed to explore their own solutions and decide on their own plan of action for moving forward. The role of the coach therefore is to ask those questions to allow the client to come up with the answers and will ask those questions the client wouldn't ask themselves. The coach should not be `leading' the client with their questions to pre-determined answers or imparting their own suggestions or advice.

So, if a coach is not imparting advice, instead only asking questions it follows that a coach does not need experience of coaching in a particular area. Many non-directive coaches believe that by not having experience in a particular area they can remain totally impartial to the situation and focus on taking the client through a process to find the solution that is best for them.

Advice and even subtle guidance can be great, however, whilst a particular solution may be right for one person, it may not be for another. Some coaches will admit if they have experience in a particular area they sometimes find themselves asking leading questions, albeit subconsciously, to help the client to a particular solution. This can stifle the client's own creativity and the client may lose out by not exploring all the options available to them.

So, is there a case for only coaching in an area you are experienced in? Well for me the answer is yes, and this is based partly on my own experience of being coached and also of coaching others.

Firstly if you have experience or expertise in a particular area and the client knows this, you immediately score points for credibility…afterall you have been there done it and got the T-shirt. People do like to feel they are being coached by an expert. For example if you want to lose weight and get fit wouldn't you prefer to turn to a coach who is fit, healthy and not overweight themselves?

Building rapport with your client is crucial to building a solid working relationship. If you have a similar background or share common experiences with your client, (although as a coach you will not be discussing you) there will automatically be a
level of rapport as you will be `tuned in' to their situation. This helps a client to open up to their issues.

If you have experience of a particular area as a coach, either direct experience or from coaching others, you have the capacity to naturally empathise more with the client. Imagine you are a 40 year old woman going through a mid-life crisis…wouldn' t you like to feel that you are talking to someone who can empathise with your situation because they have been there before and got through it or has helped dozens of women before you. A client can feel that certain barriers are broken down knowing that  `they are not the only one.'

Also if you understand a person's situation you are better placed to ask relevant questions. This might seem contradictory to what has been said but I have been asked questions by a coach who didn't relate to my situation and found the questions showed a lack of understanding of my situation.

So, in conclusion there are pros and cons for having experience in the area in which you are coaching. Personally I think some understanding and experience of a particular area is positive not only from a client's point of view but also from a marketing point of view…you're out there as the `expert'. However if you are committed to being a non-directive coach you need to be aware of the potential pitfall of falling into at the least asking leading questions, at the worst giving advice that just doesn't meet the client's needs.

How to Bounce back

One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly on the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush downstream, and listen to the chirps of birds and the rustling of leaves in the trees.

I would also watch the bamboo trees bend under pressure from the wind and watch them return gracefully to their upright or original position after the wind had died down.

When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to bounce back or return to it's original position, the word resilience comes to mind. With a person, resilience means the ability to readily recover from situations that stretch the limits of a person's emotions.

Have you ever felt like you are about to snap? Have you ever felt like you are at your breaking point?

During the experience you probably felt a mix of emotions that threatened your health. You felt drained, mentally exhausted, and you most likely endured unpleasant physical symptoms.

Life is a mixture of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. The next time you are close to your breaking point, do not let the situation get the best of you.

A measure of hope will see you through. With hope for a better tomorrow, unpleasant times may be easier to live through.

If the going gets tough and you are at your breaking point show resilience. Like the bamboo tree, bend, but don't break!

Did you ever have a day when you felt like your "get- up-and-go" had gotten up and left? Has a stressful situation ever left you feeling drained and unmotivated to perform even simple tasks?

Most of us have experienced this to some extent. Having the resiliency to work, play, and continue performing after stressful times requires that we have enough reserve energy to bounce back.

Those bamboo trees, in bending one direction, build potential energy to bounce back. However, when we experience stresses that bend us, we may expend more energy than we have in reserve. Human minds and bodies are not made of bamboo. We can easily break before we bounce.

Depleted energy results in career burn out, depression, and physical illness. Relationships can suffer, and periods of intense apathy can move in to steal much of the joy in living. For us to spring back after a stressful time requires a storehouse of reserve energy!

How can we store enough reserve energy to be resilient after times of crisis or stress?

Energy reserves can be replenished daily through the discipline of balance. Balance provides flexibility, a quality essential for responding in positive ways to events in all of the major life areas.

This includes taking time daily for relaxation, and participating in activities that we enjoy and find relaxing. We can perform better under pressure, recover from setbacks, and minimize resiliency fatigue by strengthening our minds and spirits in healthy ways.

A wise friend once told me that she kept a happy book. It contained hundreds of things she loved most -- things that made her smile and laugh. Each day, she made sure she did a few of the things in her happy book. This became a great way to replenish the energy
consumed by the stresses of daily living.

Fortunately, God gave us the ability to be very resilient. However, we have to nourish that resiliency. So, He also gave us things to laugh at as well as work toward.

We have the choice to balance our daily lives and be flexible in our responses. Perhaps we can even be as resilient as those bamboo trees!
