Ekta Chaudhary, the charming 22 year old from Delhi was crowned Miss India Universe 2009 in a glittering ceremony held in Mumbai. Standing tall at 5′9.5″ and weighing 55.5kg, vital statistics of the new Miss India Universe are reported to be an amazing 32-24-36!
Pooja Chopra was chosen Miss India World, while Shriya Kishore was crowned Miss India Earth, by a panel of judges comprising big names such as Madhur Bhandarkar, Ajay Devgan, Sushmita Sen, Asin and Deepika Padukone among others. In accordance with tradition, the winners from the previous year –Miss India World Parvathy Omanakuttan, Miss India Universe Simran Kaur Mundi and Miss India Earth Tanvi Vyas – made an appearance on the ramp to bestow the crowns on their respective successors. Glitz and glamour was understandably the mainstay of the event, which saw performances by a livelyGenelia D’Souza and a very sedate Kangana Ranaut, not to mention a sizzling finale routine by former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, where the final five joined her on stage to shake a leg.
